The ascension of Annapurna I in 1950 by a French team marked the first sucessful clim of an 8000m peak, resulting worldwide publicity made this range well known. Bounded by the Marsyangdi river and Kali Gandaki, this huge range occupies the center of Nepal Himalaya, Streching over a length of some 70km. The view of Annapurna from Pokhara is sublime. The sparkling snow capped peaks and subtropical vegetation at 900m elevation offers and unparralled panoroma - one which can be only enjoyed from Pokhara.
